For this recipe I've used mostly ground spices as they are cheaper and easy-to-use, however if you have whole spices those can be used as well. For cloves use 2 whole cloves per person. For nutmeg I recommend shaving only a little at the end for the most effect. For the chilli's use dried chilli's and depending on the kind use 1-2 per person after removing the seeds or it may overwhelm the entire drink. If you desire a thicker hot chocolate simply add more solid chocolate and the reverse for a thinner one.„
